Future Frames: Open call for applications for stories from the Himalayas

What is it about?
Future Frames is a participatory filmmaking opportunity under the 'Himalaya for the Future' initiative of IUCN. Selected youth groups will create 3-to-4-minute short films on Himalaya for the Future.

The best part? It’s all online—training to submission—for all selected youth groups

Who can apply?
Youth groups (3–4 members) aged 15–24 from schools/colleges in Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura.

About 'Himalaya for the Future'
IUCN-TATA initiative, 'Himalaya for the Future', supported by the TCS Foundation, TATA Group, aims to develop a strong basis for nature-based solutions underpinning development, which will result in a significant legacy of improved social, economic and environmental conditions in the Himalayan region.

The project focuses on seven thematic areas: forest & ecosystem, sustainable livelihood, wildlife conservation, water resources, clean energy, urban resilience and sustainable waste management, tied with five cross-cutting areas: climate change, nature-based solutions, gender, disaster risk reduction and traditional knowledge.

Under this, Youth4Himalaya, which aligns with the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) movement launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC), and also with the IUCN Youth Strategy which highlighted the crucial role of young people in driving meaningful conservation actions. Students play a crucial role in shaping the future of these ecosystems, acting as "agents of change" who raise awareness and drive local initiatives, ensuring the long-term sustainability of these vital areas.

Exciting Feature
•    Youth will learn to voice and scale their local environmental issues through compelling, optimistic narratives and storytelling.
•    To take filmmaking or media as a career and become a filmmaker.
•    To have a chance to gain recognition in global IUCN events through movie screenings.
•    Youth will learn team building and team dynamics, especially through cross-cultural modes.
•    Youth develop skills in visual storytelling. 
•    An award-winning environmental filmmaker will lead the online training and video production.
•    Certificate of participation will be provided to all  
•    Trainings to be conducted in an online mode.
