As part of Canada’s doubling of its previous climate and its objective to leverage the climate action expertise and commitment of organizations in Canada, $315 million has been allocated for Partnering for Climate (P4C), to fund projects from civil society, Indigenous Peoples and other organizations in Canada that will support climate change adaptation in Sub-Saharan Africa and other parts of the world. Implementing a comprehensive strategy to contribute towards tackling climate change involves embracing multiple approaches alongside technological innovations and international cooperation. In doing so, nature-based solutions (NbS) play a pivotal role in advancing climate action by harnessing the power of ecosystems to mitigate and adapt to climate change, fostering biodiversity while promoting a resilient and sustainable development.
NAbSA brings together a global network of organizations to address societal and environmental challenges due to the climate crisis, supporting gender-responsive actions, biodiversity conservation, and international climate goals.. NAbSA – as a transformative and collaborative project - is designed to bolster support through three foundational pillars. Firstly, it will enhance capacities through targeted training initiatives, empowering the nominated organisations - and ultimately all stakeholders concerned by P4C and other nature-positive projects - with the skills and knowledge needed for effective and successful NbS implementation. Secondly, the project prioritizes gathering evidence-based insights and practices, fostering a robust data-driven approach to decision-making.
