The programme is based on the success of the “Billion Tree Afforestation Project (BTAP) or the “Billion Tree Tsunami” implemented by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. IUCN is leading the consortium with FAO and WWF for third party monitoring of the programme. In the first phase the consortium with develop the Monitoring Framework in consultation with the federal and provincial governments and also conduct some pilot monitoring. In second phase the consortium will conduct monitoring of all implementation including forestry and wildlife and will contribute monitoring data through the database development and monitoring.

Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Programme (TBTTP) aims to restore degraded forests and ecosystems and conserve biodiversity in order to maximize environmental, social and biodiversity benefits.

IUCN is leading the Consortium with the FAO and WWF Pakistan for the Third Party Monitoring of the TBTTP at national scale. For the purpose the consortium is developing the Logical Framework and the monitoring framework to conduct the Third Party Monitoring over the project period.
