Governance for Ecosystem-based Adaptation

Authors: Iza, Alejandro, Córdoba Muñoz, Rocío,
Abstract

Effective governance is a fundamental requisite for Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA). CLIMA is a practical tool to plan, execute, evaluate, and improve governance in the context of specific initiatives, actions and measures for climate change adaptation and ecosystem management. CLIMA helps generate recommendations for the development and implementation of action plans applied to situations at multiple spatial and temporal scales. The objective is to have simple and practical instruments for improving EbA governance in accordance with countries' political and legal frameworks and international commitments, particularly those arising from biodiversity conservation and ecosystem management instruments and the Paris Accord, and especially Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), for their continuous improvement and sustainability over time.
