Safeguarding Saudi Arabia’s Coral Reefs: National Crown-of-Thorns Response Plan Launched
The National Center for Wildlife, in collaboration with IUCN, is proud to launch Saudi Arabia’s first comprehensive Crown-of-Thorns Starfish (COTs) Response Plan. This science-based protocol aims to monitor and control outbreaks of the destructive COTs species to protect the Kingdom’s valuable coral reef ecosystems. The plan sets a national framework for early detection, rapid response, stakeholder coordination, and long-term reef resilience—ensuring our marine heritage is preserved for generations to come.
