Tunisia Towards 30x30 project

Running from January 2026 to June 2029, Tunisia Towards 30x30 is a 42 month initiative designed to accelerate Tunisia’s contribution to the Global Biodiversity Framework’s 30x30 target by expanding, strengthening, and ensuring the effective and equitable management of a national network of Marine and Coastal Protected Areas (MCPAs). 

Tunisia hosts rich marine and coastal biodiversity that underpins coastal resilience, fisheries, and local livelihoods. Yet, marine protected areas currently cover less than 3% of the country’s marine territory, highlighting a significant opportunity to scale up protection and improve management effectiveness.
