What is the Nature and Biodiversity Pillar of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans?
The Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, signed in Sofia in 2020, sets out a shared commitment to sustainability across five pillars, including the Nature and Biodiversity Pillar, which focuses on protecting and restoring ecosystems, halting biodiversity loss, and supporting people and nature across the region.
This video explains what the Nature and Biodiversity Pillar of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans is, why it matters, and how it is being implemented. It features voices from the IUCN Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ECARO), which coordinates the pillar, and members of the Biodiversity Task Force for the Western Balkans (BDTF WB), who lead and champion its implementation at regional and economy levels.
Through expert insights and testimonials, the video highlights how the Nature and Biodiversity Pillar supports regional cooperation, strengthens environmental governance, and contributes to healthy ecosystems, and sustainable development in the Western Balkans.
