“Environmental Law and Diplomacy”, the latest book by Donald W. Kaniaru

In his book “Environmental Law and Diplomacy”, Donald Kaniaru describes with great insight paramount events for environmental law such as the birth of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). He also discusses the concept of sustainable development, the challenges of environmental courts (with his own experience as Chairman of Kenya’s Environment Tribunal) and the important outcomes of the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Environment.

Mr. Kaniaru was a national government officer and diplomat for Kenya, and worked with UNEP for decades, where he served as Law Division Director. He currently represents the International Council of Environmental Law (ICEL) at UN in Nairobi. In October 2022, Donald Kaniaru was one of the many legal experts who joined IUCN WCEL's 2022 Oslo International Conference.
