IUCN Advances Climate Adaptation Planning in Inhambane, Mozambique

IUCN ESARO, through the CBA SCALE+ and ReSea Project, is enhancing the capacity of the Inhambane Seascape to adapt to climate change. As part of this effort, IUCN is providing support to the Government of Inhambane to update the Local Climate Change Adaptation Plan (2026–2036) for Inhassoro District.

This initiative convened more than 25 participants, including representatives from central, provincial, and district government, civil society organizations, and local community leaders.

The updated plan will serve as a roadmap for the district to address climate change over the next decade, focusing on: Reducing vulnerability to climate impacts, improving community livelihoods, integrating gender-inclusive approaches and Promoting nature-based solutions

By strengthening local governance and community engagement, this process ensures that climate adaptation strategies are inclusive, sustainable, and aligned with national priorities.
