In addition to the accolades of Kathy's great commitment to protected areas and WCPA, I wanted to highlight another of her contributions, from her days at the World Bank alongside the late Tony Whitten (himself Chair of the IUCN SSC Cave Invertebrate Specialist Group). Kathy and Tony set up a long-running programme to support writing and publication of fieldguides in local languages, opening the door to biodiversity knowledge for a subatantial proportion of the world's people.
