I last saw Kathy fizzing with energy at COP15 in Montreal last December, talking with equal passion about the Global Biodiversity Framework and her wonderful sons and grandchildren. It's so hard to believe she has left us. We first met in South Africa in the 1990s to work on the role of protected areas in advancing transboundary peace and conservation - a friendship and inspiration that lasted decades. What a woman and what a global leader for nature! Deepest sympathy to her family.
