The highlight of the past month is the IUCN Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions that offers a rigorous framework to help avoid any misuse and take these solutions from the local to a global scale. The new release of the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species revealed that the European Hamster could go extinct in the next 30 years. We congratulate colleagues in the Russian Federation and Serbia their first UNESCO Global Geopark designations. This is great recognition for unique natural and cultural sites and it will hopefully inspire further nominations. We would also like to congratulate the Government of Uzbekistan for making a big step forward towards achieving global biodiversity targets.

Read about our involvement in the evaluation of natural and socio-economic values of the Lake Ohrid and the Shar Mountains, the efforts on the conservation of snow leopards by IUCN SOS Central Asia grantees and learn about the potential financing of forest landscape restoration.

Read about all this, and much more. We thank all the contributors to A Voice for Nature #22 and wish you to stay safe in these challenging and dynamic times.
