During the first phase, Living Buna project successfully delivered a host of outputs that benefited the long term conservation of Buna Velipoje Protected Landscape (BVPL) - ranging from bridging the knowledge gap through improving management and enhancing governance to supporting the implementation BVPL's management plan. Drawing on the experience and lessons learned in the first phase, the second phase aims to improve identified gaps in the capacity of a diverse set of stakeholders including PA managers, local NGOs and the local community. In conjunction with the capacity building programme, innovative funding supporting infrastructure will be established through a Small Grants Programme in the region to scale up and enhance the sustainable nature-friendly businesses initiatives which have a positive impact on socio-economic and sustainable development.

The objectives of the project include (i) building a strong Mediterranean Wetlands partnership to scale up nature conservation and sustainable development, (ii) improving and sharing the knowledge for implementation of BVPL's management plan, (ii) ensuring that sectors operate more sustainably and have minimal impact on Buna wetland, (iii) producing of tailored communication material to promote engagement of relevant stakeholders with a focus on the local community and local business.
