Plastic Pollution Regional Report from Eastern and Southern Africa Mediterranean and Southeast Asia

Plastic Pollution Hotspotting and Shaping Action Regional Report Eastern and Southern Africa Mediterranean and Southeast Asia - a comprehensive view

In order to demonstrate the intra- and interregional similarities and differences in plastic pollution based on these assessments, this Report provides a comparative overview of plastic leakage; an exploration of regional recycling capacity; a showcase of hotspots by geographic area, polymer, application, and sector;
and a range of potential instruments and interventions for consideration by decision makers to address plastic pollution. Additionally, the publicly available data for each assessment is shared to illustrate the foundations on which this Regional Report is built.

This report and these projects were made possible though generous support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) for their funding of the Marine Plastics and Coastal Communities project (MARPLASTICCs); Agence Française de Développement (AFD) for their funding of the PlastiCoCo project; and the Didier and Martine Primat Foundation for their funding of the Plastic Waste Free Islands –Mediterranean project.
