Nature for the Planet: Building a Net-zero, Nature-positive Future

This exclusive evening event, hosted by BirdLife International, Trillion Trees and IUCN, will feature global actors demonstrating the power of collaboration to accelerate progress towards a net-zero, nature-positive future by protecting and restoring the vital ecosystems that deliver concrete benefits for biodiversity, health, livelihoods and a more stable climate.

With rising global tensions relating to energy, food, climate and ever-increasing competition for financial resources to address multiple challenges, now is the time to act and mobilise further resources, hold those accountable to deliver on new and existing commitments, and highlight what is needed to transform the way we protect and restore our greatest natural assets.

The COP27 Presidency’s Biodiversity Day in the critical last leg of negotiations provides the key moment to flag the ambition needed to deliver for biodiversity to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Fortuitously, it also serves as a pivotal moment looking forward to the re-scheduled Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) COP15, where we must deliver an ambitious biodiversity framework, knowing that if we can’t deliver the resources and commitment needed for nature, the Paris Agreement will fail.

A range of high-level speakers from across government, international organisations, the UNFCCC High-level Climate Champions, Indigenous Peoples, civil society, and the corporate sector will make short interventions and we call on attendees to demonstrate their progress on and commitment to climate and biodiversity action and financial contributions at the event.

Attendance: By invitation only as space is limited.
