American Prairie Foundation

American Prairie is a donor-funded nonprofit organization conserving the temperate grassland ecosystem by connecting and restoring land to support natural ecological processes. Our strategy to achieve landscape-scale results is to add to and complement existing swaths of public land that have already been set aside for conservation. We steward the prairie’s biodiversity, foster relationships with public and private stakeholders, and create opportunities for the public to explore the region. The project is referred to as “American Prairie,” but the end result will be a multi-jurisdictional complex made up of public and private land.
