Southern Tanzania Elephant Program

Southern Tanzania Elephant Program (STEP) is a Tanzanian conservation NGO dedicated to creating a long and peaceful future of coexistence for the biodiverse ecosystems, habitats and wildlife of southern Tanzania, and the communities on which they inter-depend. STEP works across key elephant ecosystems using community-focused approaches—supporting coexistence, training rangers and Village Game Scouts, restoring corridors, and using research to guide action. We engage local communities through education, outreach, and partnerships that benefit both people and nature.
