Zoo Hannover gGmbH

Hanover Zoo, founded in 1865, is a scientifically managed, 22-hectare zoo and an EAZA member dedicated to conservation, education, research, and wildlife experiences. Home to ~2,000 animals representing around 150 species, the zoo features carefully designed enclosures that provide spacious, naturalistic habitats. As the largest extracurricular learning venue in Lower Saxony, Germany, it offers education for visitors of all ages. Hanover Zoo participates in over 30 EAZA Ex Situ breeding programs and coordinates six itself. Following the One Plan Approach, the zoo integrates its ex-situ conservation efforts with numerous in-situ initiatives to contribute to global wildlife preservation.
