Haikou Municipal People's Government

As the capital of Hainan Province, located in the southern most part of China, Haikou covers a land area of 2,304.84 square kilometers, a maritime area of 830 square kilometers with a coastline of 136 kilometers. The population is 2.2 million. As an emerging tourist city characterized by a unique tropical climate and elegant coastal scenery, Haikou is endowed with a unique environment. It is listed as one of China’s most livable cities and honored as China’s first pilot World Health City by the WHO. Besides, Haikou has also won the following national-level awards: National Garden City, National Model City for Environmental Protection, Top Ten Historical and Cultural Cites of China, etc.
