CENTER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ETHICS AND LAW

The Center for Environmental Ethics and Law is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in the United States. We are comprised of a staff (Executive Director), Board (5 Directors), and Expert Advisors (currently, 11 experts). The Board meets bi-annually. CEEL was created to advance the Biosphere Ethics Initiative, an international soft law program that uses the Relato methodology. This methodology uses ethical engagement as a tool for action. We work with local leaders in communities to identify people and programs in conservation (conservation, understood as an inter-connected issue that includes science, arts, economics, law and policy, human rights, social justice, etc.) in order to discuss the guiding secular and non-secular values of the communities and their work, as well as the challenges that they face (i.e. the obstacles to conservation). These meetings also include input from global experts. To build solidarity, results are then shared with other local communities and global governance bodies, including institutions of higher education, and unpacked with scholarly research/publications.
