Most seaweed species are poorly studied compared to other taxa despite their ecological and economic importance. Many are already threatened due to climate change and other anthropogenic stressors. This group has a broad ecosystem and conservation focus, and we use our combined knowledge to inform decision-making for society and policymakers to take science-based actions for seaweed conservation.
