Technical Groups include Thematic Group, Specialist Groups, and Task Forces. They are the main constituent units of the Commission, gathering members with similar expertise and concern. The Commission covers the world with Regional Leads and National Focal Points. They provide leadership and promote capacity to address the IUCN's mission regarding specific topics or regions within the Commission's Mandate. They determine and review, on a continuing basis, the status and needs of such topics, synthesize, and communicate lessons learned, develop strategies, and promote specific initiatives to be carried out by Commission members.
