The CEM Ecosystem-based Aquaculture Specialist Group aims to foster the sustainable development of aquaculture and to promote the conservation of related marine and freshwater biodiversity. To fulfil this mission, the E-bA group seeks to influence aquaculture policy and related conservation strategies as well as to propose responsible management methods and tools, and build bridges between stakeholders by offering guidance to managers and practitioners, and developing an integrated approach between institutions and environmental organizations, both governmental and non-governmental.

As a researcher I have started my career in National Institute of Ocean Technology, India (1998-2006) and working now as the Head, Centre for Ocean Research, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, India (2019 to till date) and as Scientist – E / Professor, Centre for Ocean Research, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, India (2007 to till date), which is established with the MoES - Earth Science & Technology Cell for Marine Biotechnological Studies (2019), recognized by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India and identified as the MSME – TIFAC Academic Partnership Center for Aquaculture Sector (2021). I have completed my under graduation in Zoology and post graduation in Aquaculture. I have obtained my doctorate degree in Marine Biology and Oceanography from the Centre of Advanced Study (CAS) in Marine Biology, Annamalai University. I am also the Member of IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (2017 to till date), Member of IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (2017 to till date), and one of the Project Coordinator of Sathyabama - Technology Business Incubator (TBI) (2012), DST-FIST programme (Earth Sciences) and MoES - Earth Science and Technology Cell (ESTC) for Marine Biotechnological Studies. I am the Course Coordinator for the “Post Graduate Diploma Course on Skill Development in Fishery Food Products Technology" sponsored by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India and affiliated to Food Industry Capacity & Skill Initiative (2019 to till date). I have published more than 40 research articles in peer reviewed journals, 11 book chapters, a book and a patent for my credit. I have also received “Young Scientist Research Award (2014-2017)” from the Science and Engineering Research Board, Govt. of India. I am identified as one of the PI in the Marine Bioresource and Biotechnology Network Programme (2021) by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. I am serving as the Editorial board member of 'Mitochondrial DNA Part B Resources', (Taylor & Francis) from 2021. I am the Doctoral Committee Reviewer (Life science), Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (2013 to till date), and Member of Board of studies – PSG Arts & Science College (2015 - 2017), Coimbatore. I am the Principal Investigator for DAE, DST, BRNS & MOES funded projects, Co-Investigator for MOES, BRNS & DBT funded projects, Mentor for ICMR-SRF, Rufford fellows and Post Doctoral Research fellows till date.

I’m an internationally recognized Agro-environmental expert with two and half decades of experience. I’m holding two MScs, the first one (In Zoology & Aquaculture), and the second is (in Natural Resources Management and Their Sustainability), and one Postgraduate Diploma in Wildlife Management Planning, obtained from well-known academic institutions. My research; and consultancy works aiming at Promoting the Innovative; Climate Smart, and Agroecological Agricultural Best Practices; Biodiversity conservation and Finding Creative Environmental Problem Solution. I’m an author; co-author and accredited international scientific writing peer reviewer (Scientific articles; MSc and PhD thesis; and technical reports). I’m a member of many international Unions, Societies, concerning with Science; wildlife; environment etc, I have had the opportunity to acquire efficient communication and organizational skills. Furthermore, I have gained significant experience through internships abroad (Russia 1988-1994; INDIA, 1999-2000; U.K; Spain; Greece & Germany) and many other countries around the world.
