More about the Specialist Group
The initial priorities for the IUCN SSC Butterfly and Moth Specialist Group are a comprehensive reassessment of the global status of swallowtail butterfly species, based on the IUCN Red List criteria, a sampled assessment of 1,500 butterflies for the Sampled Red List Index and the promotion of butterfly conservation. As part of this, we are growing our membership network worldwide.
The mission of the IUCN SSC Butterfly Specialist Group is to increase knowledge on the taxonomy, ecology and conservation status of butterflies and moths around the world and promote their long-term conservation.
