More about the Specialist Group
The CPSG is advancing the National Red List for the plants of Colombia. This information on red list assessments is being used to inform conservation planning, in terms of updating national legislation, providing inputs to update or formulate conservation action plans for species groups and implementing the KBA (Key Biodiversity Areas) programme in Colombia.
The mission of the Colombian Plant Specialist Group is to provide scientific information for conservation planning and action for the plants of Colombia, including knowledge and education products for a diversity of public and private stakeholders interested in plant and biodiversity conservation.
CPSG on the IUCN Red List
We have carried out a pilot project for using the national red list of plants to support the identification of KBA, and also have designed a protocol to more effectively use plant information for the KBA national programme.
Monitoring and design of conservation action plans - CPSG Annual Report
We support monitoring of the existing conservation action plans for species groups within the framework of the National Strategy for Plant Conservation, and also the design of new plans.
