Administracao Nacional das Areas de Conservacao

ANAC was established by the Decree 11/2011 is a Government Institution with administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy. It is composed by 5 main services, namely: Management and Protection of Natural Resources, Research and Development, Licensing and Promotion, Administration and Finance and Human Resources. The administrative council of ANAC encompasses 2 major boards which are the (i) Board of Directors and (i) and the Technical Board. ANAC is managing a protected areas network equivalent to 26% of the national territory encompassing both terrestrial and marine conservation areas. The conservation areas network under management of ANAC, includes parks and reserves, game farms, hunting concessions and other categories according to the national conservation legislation.
