Alpenzoo Innsbruck-Tirol
The Alpenzoo is a non-profit organisation that generates most of its annual operating funds itself, and is supported by the City of Innsbruck, the Province of Tyrol, the association “Friends of the Alpenzoo”, sponsors and donors. With ca. 300,000 visitors a year, the Alpenzoo is the largest cultural institution in Tyrol. As an employer, it secures permanent jobs for ca. 30-40 employees. With ca. 2000 individuals, the Alpenzoo reveals the world’s largest collection of Alpine animals (ca. 20 mammalian, 60 avian, 11 reptilian, 6 amphibian and various freshwater fish species). Its areas of dedication are Research & Education; Nature & species conservation; Recreation; Zoo education.
