Centre for Restoration of the Iraqi Marshlands and Wetlands
After 2003, the Ministry of Water Resources established the Centre for Restoration of the Iraqi Marshlands and wetlands for
the purpose of monitoring and supervising the rehabilitation process which effectively contributed to the restoration of the
Marshlands hydrologically, ecologically, economically and serviceably within a comprehensive integrated plan. The Center
also sought to introduce the Marshlands and their environmental impact at the international level, as part of the Ramsar
Convention on Wetlands and within the World Heritage List of its natural components.
The Center continues to strive to sustain this property because of its unique biodiversity.
