Dublin Zoo

We are Dublin Zoo. We save wildlife and inspire a passion for nature – one person, one family at a time. Dublin Zoo opened on September 1, 1831. Today, Dublin Zoo’s 28 hectares attracts over 1 million visitors a year. Animals at Dublin Zoo live enriched lives in natural social groups, and can be observed in naturalistic spaces that reflect their natural habitat. Dublin Zoo is managed by caring zoo professionals who devote their lives to the welfare and care of animals, adhering to strict codes of practice laid down by associative bodies. In partnership with the IUCN SSC, Dublin Zoo hosts the Centre for Species Survival: Ireland, while also supporting local and global conservation efforts.
