Forest Wildlife & Environment Department, Government of Gilgit Baltistan

The FWED-GB has following functions as per the GB Rules of Business 2009: Develop policies and managing forests,wildlife,biodiversity,watersheds,rangelands,glaciers,wetlands&protected areas. Enforcing laws related to these functions and sub-sectors. Implementing management & development plans of these sub-sectors. Conducting research,scientific studies,inventories, and annual surveys in these fields. Promoting social&farm forestry, ecosystem management, & related activities. Generating revenue & managing special funds for resource protection, conservation, management, & development. FWED-GB is the custodian and a key govt entity responsible for GB’s natural resources & these functions.
