Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy / Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (NECCA)

The Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (NECCA) is a legal entity governed by private law, operating under the supervision of the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy with administrative and financial autonomy. NECCA was established in 2020 (founding Law 4685/07.05.2020) and constitutes the successor of the National Centre of Environment and Sustainable Development (NCESD) and the former Management Bodies of Protected Areas. NECCA’s headquarters are located in Athens while its Protected Area Management Units are situated across the whole of Greece, thus covering the entire Natura 2000 network in the country.
