Honolulu Zoological Society

Originally founded as the Zoo Hui in 1969, the Honolulu Zoological Society was created as a support organization to the Honolulu Zoo, a public facility owned and operated by the City and County of Honolulu. In it's original charter for incorporation, the founders of the organization defined its purpose as ensuring that: knowledge, enjoyment, and recreation concerning animals, plants, zoology, conservation, research, and related subjects may be spread and deepened among the people of Honolulu. The Society continues this work today primarily through activities that help to connect the community to the Zoo and advance its conservation mission, including educational experiences, volunteer opportunities, a membership program, and fundraising activities.
