International Alliance of Protected Areas

International Alliance of Protected Areas (IAPA) was proposed by Changbai Mountain National Nature Reserve (NNR) of China in 2013. With strong support of Jilin Provincial Forestry Department and Changbai Mountain Conservation and Development Management Committee, IAPA was officially established in 2014. It becomes a platform for improving management effectiveness of PAs to achieve the goal of harmonious development between man and nature. The first Six IAPA annual meetings were held in Changbai Mountain NNR, Shennongjia NNR, Tangjiahe NNR and Hanma NNR of China. By June 2019, there are 122 PA members (52 from outside of China).
