Island Conservation Society
Founded in 2001, the Island Conservation Society (ICS) is dedicated to the conservation and restoration of island ecosystems in Seychelles, with a focus on sustainable development through science, education, and community engagement. ICS currently manages conservation programmes on eight islands—Aride, Silhouette, Alphonse, Desroches, Farquhar, Cosmoledo, Astove, and Île Plate—where it operates field centres supporting biodiversity monitoring, habitat restoration, ecotourism, and environmental education. Key initiatives include invasive species eradication, species reintroductions, and national policy support, such as the Seychelles Seabird Census. Through partnerships with government, private sector, and local communities, ICS promotes integrated island management to ensure the long-term ecological and socio-economic resilience of Seychelles’ outer and granitic islands.
