S.P.E.C.I.E.S. is the only organization completely dedicated to the conservation of the world's carnivores [Carnivora], and the health and sustainability of those ecosystems they depend on to survive. Carnivores have specific conservation needs in common that generally necessitate large-scale conservation strategies. The ecological needs of carnivores are often among the best criteria for creating and connecting sustainable landscapes; conservation strategies developed around these needs can serve as effective tools for protecting ecological functioning, ecosystem integrity, and biological diversity. We take integrative approaches and find novel solutions to address systemic drivers of threats to carnivores and their frontline consequences.
