Micronesian Shark Foundation

.Micronesian Shark Foundation was founded in 2002 to start the first shark research in Palau, raise awareness to sharks future in Palau and the Micronesian region. MSF started tagging sharks and place receivers stations in Palau reefs to monitor the patterns of their movements. MSF continued with shark data collection, surveys and shark education at schools and community awareness. In 2009 Palau’s President declared the Republic a Shark Sanctuary, MSDF played a major role in this declaration. MSF extended the work, conducted socio-economy analysis of the value of sharks, a complete survey of Palau's remote South West islands as well as published papers through AIMS.
