National Council for Scientific Research - Lebanon

The National Council for Scientific Research - Lebanon (CNRS-L), established in 1962, is the higest national public institution in charge of Research in Lebanon. Reporting to the Prime Minister, CNRS-L is an autonomous body directed by a Board of Administrators and managed by a Secretary General. CNRS-L encompasses four research centers, each of which has its own national thematic mandate, and responds to a research need in the country: the National Centre for Geophysical Research, the National Centre for Marine Sciences, the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission and The National Centre for Remote Sensing. The activities of these centers focus on issues of general concern to the country such as air, soil and groundwater pollution, renewable energy, biodiversity, pollution and managements of the costal regions, industrial and urban solid waste treatment, radioactive waste treatment, earthquakes and construction standards.
