Reforestamos México A.C.

Sustainability is not only about environmental management and fair and equitable social structures, it also considers economic activities. As such, in order to ensure the future of forests, our goal is to develop specialized programs to help the forest communities make a better use of their resources and have a better life. Reforestamos México understands the strengths and weaknesses of the forestry sector in Mexico; the strengths include a deep-rooted community tradition and a large potential to exploit forest resources; the weaknesses include low competitiveness and a high degree of uncertainty in business development resulting in a lack of trust among stakeholders. Reforestamos Mexico is convinced that the best way to ensure forests is by increasing the sector’s competitiveness and, as a result, its sustainability. To achieve this goal, all of its programs are aligned to an agenda that promotes the competitiveness and sustainability of forests through: a) the dissemination of a forest culture of sustainability and citizen participation; b) the promotion of responsible forest talent; c) the promotion of legality and transparency along the value chain; d) forest governance and awareness through the development of projects; e) the detonation of responsible investment to boost community business development; and f) the promotion of competitive value chains of forest goods and services.
