Renewables Grid Initiative

The Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI) is a non-profit organisation, registered under German law. We currently have 30 Members and 3 Supporting Members (of which IUCN is one) from 13 European countries. In addition, many of our NGO Members are Brussels-based umbrella organisations with members all over Europe and some also acting on a global level (e.g. BirdLife Europe or WWF). RGI is a unique collaboration of NGOs and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) engaging in an ‘energy transition ecosystem-of-actors’. Since 2009, TSOs and NGOs have joined forces to help develop the infrastructure needed to integrate large shares of renewable energy as well as to gain more public and policy support.
