Stiftelsen Skansen

The Skansen Foundation is an Open Air Museum and a Zoo emphazing Nordic Animals. The Foundation promotes cultural diversity and is a place for recreation, education and entertainment. It has an ecological approach to the Swedish cultural heritage and cultural landscape and aims to protect biological biodiversity. Skansen was founded by Artur Hazelius in 1891. It is the world’s oldest open-air museum and is situated on the island of Djurgården within the city limits of Stockholm.
