Zoo Outreach Organisation Trust

Zoo Outreach Organisation was founded in 1985 at the request and funding of the Department of Environment, Government of India with the mandate to improve the image of Indian zoos, encourage volunteers in zoo activities and provide educational/technical materials to Indian zoos. In 1991, ZOO widened its reach to include in situ conservation providing institutions, organizations and individuals with easier access to international expertise. ZOO represents several IUCN specialist groups in the region. ZOO's current activities are in research, education and conservation with species & ecosystem assessments, conservation planning & action, networking, policy, citizen science, livelihoods, publication and dissemination.
