The Prague Zoo was founded in 1931 and has since become one of the world's leading zoological gardens. It strives to educate and inspire the general public, with over 1 350 000 visitors annually, through presenting over 700 animal species, their lives and relationships to the environment while ensuring the well-being and natural living conditions for the kept individuals. It creates insurance breeding groups of threatened species while being increasingly involved in conservation projects directly in their natural habitats through reintroduction activities and methodological and material support. Prague Zoo is a member of WAZA, EAZA and IZE.
