The Dar es Salaam declaration on the regenerative blue economy
The Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region, and Africa as a whole, hold immense potential to lead in the global blue economy transformation by harnessing indigenous knowledge, science-based innovation, private sector engagement, and strengthened governance. To realize this vision, we issue this Dar es Salaam Declaration as a collective roadmap towards a regenerative, resilient, and equitable blue economy in Africa.
This Declaration builds on the Moroni Declaration for Ocean and Climate Action in Africa, the Nairobi Declaration of the Africa Climate Summit, Cape Town Manifesto and the Africa Ocean Forum Call to Action, embedding their commitments into an actionable, investment-ready, and community-driven agenda, that bridge business, policy, finance, and conservation for a thriving, inclusive, and regenerative ocean economy, aligned with Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
