Towards an Inclusive Global Biodiversity Framework: the ENVISION project at the “Vital Sites: the journey to Marseille”

Leading experts presented the ENVISION project and the Inclusive conservation approach in the “Vital Sites – The Journey to Marseille” webinar series, a 6-month series of online events and multimedia content that highlights the importance of protected and conserved areas from around the world. The series is organized by IUCN’s Global Protected Area Programme and the World Commission on Protected Areas.

Over 130  participants had joined us on the 29th of October for the “Inclusive Conservation of Protected Areas: balancing stakeholders' visions” webinar, held by the ENVISION Project team.

The webinar explored the Inclusive Conservation approach and in focused on two crucial steps: considering multiple visions for protected area management and social learning and collectively defining new visions. First results from two case studies (Denali National Park, Alaska, United States and Sierra De Guadarrama, Spain) were also presented.

In the context of this project, the IUCN European Regional Office worked on a policy brief that explores how inclusive conservation can be a helpful tool in the implementation of both the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
