Meghna Knowledge Forum 2021 CALL FOR POSTER PRESENTATIONS

Youth perspectives on the socio-ecological richness and issues in the Meghna River Basin

IUCN invites students and young water/development sector professionals (under 35 years of age). The photographs must highlight socio-ecological diversity, community dependence on the rivers and/or impacts of climate change. Ten best posters will be displayed in the Photo Gallery during the Meghna Knowledge Forum from 22 to 24 June 2021. Three best posters will be selected through participants voting and winners will be invited to talk about their poster.   

Note: Meghna River Basin includes 29 transboundary rivers originating from India and flowing into Bangladesh. Some examples include, Feni, Khowai, Gumti, Manu and Muhuri Rivers originating from Tripura; Myntdu (Shari) and Umgot Rivers originating from Meghalaya plateau, and Barak River and its tributaries originating in Assam.

About the Forum

IUCN Asia is facilitating the Meghna Knowledge Forum (MKF) 2021, an online scientific symposium, which aims to provide a learning exchange platform on shared water governance issues in the Meghna Basin linked to Natural Resource Management (NRM) and community inclusion. Guidelines for Poster Submissions

  • The subject of the poster must be related to at least one of the three themes of the MKF 2021, 1) Geophysical and Ecological Diversity of the Meghna Basin; 2) Cultural and Socio-economics of the Meghna Basin; and, 3) Inclusive Basin Governance in the Meghna Basin;
  • The poster must be linked to the Meghna River Basin, highlighting its biodiversity, culture, water use, political, climate change adaptation and/or local livelihoods issues;
  • The poster must include a narrative describing the poster (max 250 words – see Annex 1);
  • Both handmade and digital posters are eligible; and,
  • Selected posters will be printed by IUCN and exhibited at the Meghna Knowledge Forum.

Prizes

  • All the posters received by IUCN will be screened to select the10 best posters. These will be showcased during the Meghna Knowledge Forum. From the 10 selected posters, three posters will be selected through voting by the forum participants. The winning posters will be included in the Symposium book and will be printed and displayed at relevant platforms and meetings. The three best posters will receive prizes.
  • Selected Posters will be accessible to Forum participants for viewing and voting from 1 June 2021, until the end of the Forum. The creator of top three winning posters will be invited to talk about their poster on the day three of the Forum.  

Timeline

  • 20 May 2021 – Last date for  the submission of poster 
  • 30 May 2021 – Notification of accepted poster
  • 0124 June 2021 – Top 10 posters open for MKF Participants Voting
