Vultures and Condors are highly threatened in many parts of the world where they occur. As a group, vultures are one of the most endangered groups of birds in the world. The IUCN Species Survival Commission’s Vulture Specialist Group (VSG) is dedicated to Accipitrid and Cathartid vulture conservation, research and education.

André Botha has worked in conservation in Africa since 1989. He currently manages the Vultures for Africa Programme at the Endangered Wildlife Trust in whose employ he has been since 2004. He has been co-chair of the IUCN SSC Vulture Specialist Group since 2012 and is the Overarching Coordinator for the Convention on Migratory Species Vulture MsAP which was adopted by all 128 range states in 2017. He is also Director Southern Hemisphere on the board of the Raptors Research Foundation.

Darcy has worked for The Peregrine Fund’s Africa Program since 2010 and is based in central Kenya. Most of her current work focuses on the ecology and conservation of vultures and owls. She is particularly passionate about ending the scourge of wildlife poisoning.
