Introduction
The IUCN WCEL Climate Change Law Specialist Group (CCLSG) is a global network of legal practitioners and scholars in the field of “climate change law”. The CCLSG is the principal source of legal technical advice to the IUCN, its members, and the WCEL on the legal aspects of addressing climate change and its adverse impacts internationally and nationally.
With 400+ members, the CCLSG brings together experts from all continents and different legal cultures and backgrounds.
The CCLSG interacts, collaborates, and coordinates with other IUCN Commissions, WCEL Specialist Groups and the IUCN Secretariat with respect to legal issues relevant to climate change.

Goals of the Specialist Group
- To strengthen and promote the key role of law in the fight against climate change.
- To provide legal advice to the IUCN in the context of international negotiations, including but not limited to the UNFCCC negotiations.
- To provide legal professionals a virtual and physical space to share ideas and information about their work, and to create opportunities for further collaborations in the field of climate change law.
