IUCN and partners are implementing a project in Iraq to strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of biodiversity conservation and ecosystem management for the Iraqi Marshlands

The Project aim is assisting the Iraqi MoEnv technically to develop and implement the management and preservation plan for the Iraqi Marshland.

As part of this support, the initiative aims to establish a long-term preservation and management plan of the cultural and biological diversity of the area through the World Heritage (WH) inscription process.

The project is expected to achieve a number of results that local communities will benefit from on the local and global levels.
