Enhancing Climate Resilience of Biodiversity Hotspots in Jordan

This project focuses on building climate resilience for Jordan’s vulnerable ecosystems, particularly in Petra and Shoubak. It integrates climate change metrics and promotes sustainable management, empowering local communities, especially women and youth.

Project Components/Activities:

  • Species distribution modeling, ecological corridor creation, and climate change impact assessment
  • Development of the JO-METT tool tailored to Jordan, integrating climate and gender considerations
  • Restoration of the Shoubak Plant Nursery and community engagement activities

Key Achievements/Outcomes:

  • Identified restoration sites and developed ecological corridors
  • Conducted a climate impact assessment for six protected areas
  • Trained over 150 stakeholders in climate adaptation, gender equity, and nature-based solutions
